21 Apr 09 Attendee and Vendor Eval Forms Posted
Hey there all you SymEast 2009 attendees and vendors! This is a notice that the evaluation forms for seminars and vendors have been posted on the main symeast.org website. Please make sure that you fillout our seminar evaluation form for each session you attended and if you are a vendor, be sure to fill out our vendor evaluation form.

15 Apr 09 Well, How Did it Go?
So attendees… how did it go today? We know you all went to some great sessions, met some awesome new vendors and learned about some sweet new tools and techniques to help you out at your credit unions. We want to hear what went right or if it didn’t what went not so right. We would love it if you posted your comments under this post, but we also want you to fill out your evaluation forms and drop them off at the registration desk in the Delaware room too.

15 Apr 09 Tuesday Recap

Welcome Reception – Check!
What a Tuesday! Today we had our optional training sessions and also our registration and welcome reception in the Deleware meeting hall. Overall it was one heck of a day and dispite some early morning box drama, everything went off just as we wanted! The early morning sessions we appreciated by all who attended and we heard many positive comments about both of them. Between the SymConnect and the RepGen topics there was something for every techie in the house and provided a great warmup for the rest of the conference.
Vendors started setting up at 2 PM and while we are missing a few of them due to weather, most made it and had everything ready to go for all of the attendees. Registration started at 4 PM for the vendors, and at 6 PM for the attendees who all quickly filled the hall in preperation for what has amounted to be one of the best conference dinners ever! Thanks Blanche! At 7 PM dinner was serverd – pasta, potatoes, salad, fruit, desert – you name it we had it and obviously there was the ever popular bar!
During dinner, we met a lot of great people and caught up with friends that we haven’t seen for a year or more which is always great to do. It is always nice to finally be able to put a face to the people you talk to each day on the phone either for sales or technical support. The topic of the evening seems to still be the “interesting” 15th floor rooms which all have a very unique look to them. Some requested to stay in them, some didn’t know what they were getting into and eitherway we have pictures! 14 Apr 09 Recap of Monday Afternoon and Night
So today went off without a hitch for the most part. For me personally I had originally had been booked in what they call a “Fantasy Suite” which should have rang alarm bells as soon as I saw the name but being the noobie conference traveler that I am, I accepted it without hesitation. Unfortunately that was a mistake, think of a room decorated in a style that is a cross between Graceland and ancient Egypt, imagine it…you know you want to.. Ok once your head is stopped hurting, you now realize I had to change rooms. No windows, mirror on the ceiling, furry pillows, no Internet access… The list goes on.
So after that the crew went out to dinner at Chumley’s where we all had a nice dinner. Most head some steak, I had tuna, but all were good none the less. What was the best part though??
It’s Sharon O’s birthday!!! So you are all supposed to go up to her at tomorrow and wish her a good one at registration!
After dinner we all went and checked out the vendor exhibition area which is huge and should be much better in terms of space to sit, eat and meet folks. Registration is also right there so there is no need to get lost in the conference center trying to get from station, to the exhibit hall and then back to registration.
That’s enough excitement for one night for me, I’ll be doing my twitter and blog thing during the day tomorrow so keep an eye for updates.

13 Apr 09 First Post from the Conference Venue
So here it is, the first post from the conference venue and dispite a bit of an issue when I first arrived, everything is resolved now. I have a nice room, Internet connectivity, a LCD TV… All the stuff a geek needs.
As for the venue, I am pretty impressed so far and I have wandered around a bit to see the place. The committee and I will be having dinner tonight at one of the restaurants in the convention center this evening to see how that goes. If you are in town around 7 PM come find us and say hi. We are looking forward to seeing everyone today and tomorrow.

13 Apr 09 SymWiki Usage
I’m writing today to encourage everyone to begin using the SymWiki again, I know Adele’s on board with this but this would be an even more awesome resource for Symitar users if we could get some new content out there. I started to update the GOODNIGHT portion of the site and add some new links here and there but I need people more knowledgeable than me to help out, I’m in management after all and if you read Dilbert you know what that means:
So let’s get that resource moving again, the forums have their place, the mailing list has one as well and SymWiki could be the user built manual for Symitar users everywhere.
13 Apr 09 Twitter Display ReOrg
Since we are starting to have more people signup and track the conference on Twitter, I have added a new page here http://blog.symeast.org/symitar-twitters/ which is also a navigation item along the top tool bar. This page will list all of the people who have sent us their Twitter user name so their feeds are available during the conference. Of course the SymEast Twitter account will also be following them as well so you will see their posts come through on the sidebar of the blog too.
I have also added a “Friends of SymEast” link section so I can start putting links to blogs that some of you Symitar users have on the site. My only request is that they be somewhat related to Symitar and not just a personal blog since this is a Symitar users group after all. If you have a blog or resource you want listed, send them to me at jonathan.cilley@mctfcu.org.
