Continue reading »]]> Is everyone ready for symeast? The committee is and we are excited about this year’s conference content. The roundtables are going to prove to be the highlight of the conference with topics like failover, new hardware, help desks, release loading, collections and more. All of these sessions will be led by your peers and have some of the best Symitar professionals there to answer your questions.

The inner harbor is also going to be awesome. I’m not sure if everyone has been there or not but the location of the hyatt is going to be just as great as our location on the gulf last year in Biloxi. There is a lot of great entertainment and shopping the area that you will be able to fill your down time with too.

So with all of that we are looking forward to seeing everyone there. We also want to thank all of the credit unions sending staff to this year’s conference. We know that the economy is not making it easy for people to travel right now and to still have so many of the best Symitar professionals attending is a testament to the value that credit unions see with these user conferences.

We now have full iPad, iPod, iPhone, Android, etc. support built into our site. Just point your mobile device to our blog and you will instantly get a fully mobile version of our blog that will display very nicely on smaller screens. It is done in the classic iPhone interface style and is very clear and easy to read. Happy reading everyone!

I know I will be bringing my iPad 2 to the conference and will be tweeting and blogging throughout the entire event. I hope to see a lot of others there with similar devices this year but more importantly I want to know how you are going to be using them while at the conference. Will you be tweeting? Blogging? Recording Video? Let us know what you will be up to so we can better provide the resources you need!

Continue reading »]]> So today went off without a hitch for the most part. For me personally I had originally had been booked in what they call a “Fantasy Suite” which should have rang alarm bells as soon as I saw the name but being the noobie conference traveler that I am, I accepted it without hesitation. Unfortunately that was a mistake, think of a room decorated in a style that is a cross between Graceland and ancient Egypt, imagine it…you know you want to.. Ok once your head is stopped hurting, you now realize I had to change rooms. No windows, mirror on the ceiling, furry pillows, no Internet access… The list goes on.

So after that the crew went out to dinner at Chumley’s where we all had a nice dinner. Most head some steak, I had tuna, but all were good none the less. What was the best part though??

It’s Sharon O’s birthday!!! So you are all supposed to go up to her at tomorrow and wish her a good one at registration!

After dinner we all went and checked out the vendor exhibition area which is huge and should be much better in terms of space to sit, eat and meet folks. Registration is also right there so there is no need to get lost in the conference center trying to get from station, to the exhibit hall and then back to registration.

That’s enough excitement for one night for me, I’ll be doing my twitter and blog thing during the day tomorrow so keep an eye for updates.

Continue reading »]]> SymEast (@SymEast) is now tracking on Twitter! I am going to try and update this during the conference via my blackberry and keep it fresh… You think it will work? We want our attendees to be involved and engaged throughout so this is one more opportunity to keep everyone on the same page. I’m taking my inspiration from folks at the interactive SXSW conferences in Austin (which is awesome btw and you should go if you have any interest in flash/web development) and I know the SymEast folks are at least that cool if not cooler.
